When we get a rule, price or date wrong, or Starlink changes it and we were slow, it’s fixed and logged here, with the date.

Residential prices: levels by address, not one price per plan
Earlier versions said: One national monthly price for each Residential plan (Starlink’s earlier standard prices, which its US order list showed until about Oct 25, 2026), and sentences built on that one price, such as how many bills the reward covers.
Now: Residential prices depend on your address: US Residential prices vary by region[1], and starlink.com shows no Residential price until you enter an address[2]. We show every monthly level Starlink’s own price data has shown, with where and when we saw it:
- Residential 100 Mbps: $44 to $55/mo (levels seen in Starlink’s own price data, Oct 29–Nov 3, 2026)[3]
- Residential 200 Mbps: $68 to $85/mo (levels seen in Starlink’s own price data, Oct 29–Nov 3, 2026)[3]
- Residential Max: $104 to $156/mo (levels seen in Starlink’s own price data, Oct 29–Nov 3, 2026)[3]
The $100[4] doesn’t depend on your price; how many bills it covers does, and the pages now count those bills at each level.
The monthly rental fee: shown on your order, not a fixed amount
Earlier versions said: A monthly rental fee of the amount one press report gave in June 2026, used in examples and totals as if it were current.
Now: Starlink’s rent article says a monthly rental fee is charged every month on top of the service fee[5], but gives no amount; Starlink’s order page says a monthly rental fee, if any, appears on the checkout screen and is charged on activation day or 30 days after delivery, if that’s sooner[6]. It can be zero: at the one public test address we checked on Oct 30, 2026, the order page showed the rented kit at $0/mo[7]. The June figure is now shown as history, with the report that it was removed: SatelliteInternet.com reported on Jul 20, 2026 that the monthly rental fee had been removed from new Residential orders press report[8].
Returning a rented kit: a 30-day refund, not only a 7-day back-out
Earlier versions said: A rented kit could only go back within 7 days of delivery.
Now: Starlink’s Terms of Service refund a rented kit returned within 30 days of the Payment Due Date:
If you rented Starlink Kit, you will be refunded your Activation Price only.
[9] A timely return also refunds the first month's service or rental fee and the demand surcharge[9]. The rent article’s separate rule is shown too: if you decide not to go ahead with a rental, the kit must go back in good condition within 7 days of delivery[5].US area discounts exist
Earlier versions said: There was no US regional discount.
Now: Starlink’s help center lists three US area discounts on the monthly price:
- Cameron County, Texas area: 50% off Residential service, applied automatically by service address; no upfront hardware cost for new customers[10]
- Vermilion Parish, Louisiana area: half-price Residential service, applied automatically[11]
- Eligible parts of the Memphis area: half-price service, applied automatically[12]
Its “Regional Savings” is a different, one-time program: Starlink’s list of areas with one-time “Regional Savings” names only Mexico (separate from the US area discounts on the monthly price)[13].
Phone orders aren’t the channel the terms name
Earlier versions said: Whether a phone order earns the reward was “unconfirmed”.
Now: Starlink’s terms name one channel:
The Referred Subscriber must purchase a Starlink Kit and subscription directly from www.starlink.com. Signing up through any other channel is not eligible for a Reward, including, but not limited to, retail stores, unauthorized resellers, or a private transfer from a third party.
[14] A phone order, including one finished by Starlink’s AI phone agent, isn’t starlink.com, so we say not to count on the reward for it. Orders finished in the Starlink app are still an open question: whether a referral opened in a browser survives when the order is completed in the Starlink app unverified[4].Billing dates on the 29th to 31st move to the 28th
Earlier versions said: For a Payment Due Date on the 29th, 30th or 31st, the date finder put later bills on the last day of shorter months and marked them “about”; the glossary also said Starlink doesn’t bill on the 1st, which no Starlink text we know of says.
Now: Starlink’s billing article:
If you activate service on the 29th, 30th, or 31st, your billing date moves to the 28th.
[15] The date finder applies it, and so do the glossary’s Payment Due Date and Billing cycle entries.News: Starlink Residential kits are rentals: the $10 monthly fee reported in June was reported removed in July
Earlier versions gave the rental fee as $10 a month without the Jul 20, 2026 report that it was removed, and described only the 7-day back-out for rentals; Starlink’s Terms of Service also refund a rented kit returned within 30 days.
When Starlink rewrites its own help pages
Some mistakes start on Starlink’s side: an article that changes or disappears leaves older answers out of date. These are the changes that touched the credit or the first bills.
Starlink retired the old help pages that put the credit “30 days after activation”
Starlink has removed its older referral help articles (“How do I use a referral link?” and “Additional FAQs - Billing”); both returned “not found” on Nov 2, 2026, and the live article is “Does Starlink have a referral program?”[4] (our reading). Archived copies from Jun 11, 2025 show what they said: Starlink’s older referral help article said the new customer’s credit came 30 days after activation[16], and an older Starlink billing FAQ said the first bill came at activation or 30 days after shipping; today’s Terms of Service say 7 days after delivery[17]. We first found both gone on Oct 29, 2026; Starlink doesn’t announce when it retires an article.
What to do now: Go by the current texts: Starlink’s terms say the reward is credited to your second monthly subscription invoice[14], and its help center says it comes 60 days after activation at the earliest, subject to your account settings and an identity check[4]. A page or AI answer that still says “30 days” is quoting text Starlink no longer publishes.
Starlink’s help center points to “Preview invoice” for checking a credit
Starlink’s article on checking whether a promotion was applied carries a modified date of Oct 19, 2026; we read it on Oct 25 and again on Nov 3, 2026. It says in your Starlink account, the Billing tab has a “preview invoice” button that shows next month’s invoice with any promotion or credit already applied[18]. Its billing-cycle article adds that Preview Next Invoice updates daily and shows all charges due so far[15].
What to do now: From about two months after activation, check the preview before your next bill; your credits are listed at starlink.com/account/billing, in a credit table under the invoices, with the available balance and the total amount[19]. Treat the preview as a guide and check the issued invoice too.
How mistakes get found
This site has no contact form or inbox. Errors are caught by re-reading Starlink’s own pages on a schedule and by tests that stop the build when a fact goes stale (the schedule). Whatever we fix lands in the log above, dated, with the old wording described rather than repeated.
