Understand the $100
What is the Starlink $100 credit?
A referral reward for new US customers who buy the kit and plan on starlink.com through an existing customer’s referral link. You get an amount equal to what the referring customer receives[1], $100[1] in the US, and it comes once you’ve had service for two months[1], as account credit unless you choose otherwise, taken off your next Starlink invoice[1]. The $100, explained.
Which $100 is this?
The referral reward. Other Starlink “$100s” are different things: a store’s money off a kit, a store bundle’s service credit, the Mini’s checkout price gap, promotions that ended, or other countries’ referral amounts. Every Starlink $100, sorted.
Is it real?
Yes. Starlink’s Referral Program Terms and its help center both describe it, and our rules page sets their words side by side. The exact wording.
Is it $100 off?
No. The first month is paid in full and the kit activated as usual; the checkout total has no referral deduction[1]. The $100 comes later, as credit on a monthly bill or as cash where offered. What you actually pay.
Is it paid when I sign up?
No. Starlink’s terms say it’s credited to your second monthly subscription invoice[2], and its help center says it comes once you’ve had service for two months[1]. Nothing comes at checkout or on bill 1. When it lands.
Is the $100 one-time or monthly?
One-time: the terms make it a one-time reward, paid once per eligible referral[2]. It doesn’t repeat on later bills. What you pay, bill by bill.
Is it the same as the old free month?
It replaced it. Until October 2026, a new customer got one free month of service, applied to the second monthly bill[3]; since the terms of Oct 7, 2026[4], the new customer gets $100[1] instead. The rules then and now.
Is there a free trial?
Not a free one: starlink.com advertises a 30-day trial with a full refund if you’re not satisfied (a hardware trial, not a free month)[5]. What you actually pay.
Who qualifies
Who can get it?
New customers with a US service address who buy the kit and plan on starlink.com through a referral link and stay two full billing cycles. The terms add that you have never held a Starlink subscription[2], and that you sign up as an individual person, not a company[2]. Check yours in a few taps.
I had Starlink before. Can I get it?
No. Existing and returning customers are not eligible[1], and the terms require that you have never held a Starlink subscription[2]. Who qualifies.
I already have Starlink. Is there a $100 for a second kit or a Mini?
Not from the referral program: existing and returning customers are not eligible[1], and a kit added to an account you already have isn’t a new customer (our reading). One offer for some existing customers: Residential Max subscribers can get a Starlink Mini rental with no monthly fee and 50% off eligible Roam plans[6]. Every real way to pay less.
A home kit and a Mini through one link: $100 or $200?
$100[1]. The terms make it a one-time reward, paid once per eligible referral[2], and the referral is the new customer, not each kit, even though a Residential account can have up to 8 kits[7] (our reading where the terms are silent). Who qualifies.
Does the Starlink Mini qualify?
Yes, with the kit and an eligible plan bought on starlink.com through the link. Eligible plans: Residential 100 Mbps, Residential 200 Mbps, Residential Max, Roam 100GB, Roam 300GB and Roam Unlimited (plus the older Residential and Residential Lite)[1]. Who qualifies.
Can a business get it?
No. Priority, Business and Enterprise accounts don't earn referral rewards[1], and the terms say you sign up as an individual person, not a company[2]. Who qualifies.
Is Personal Maritime eligible?
Not as far as Starlink says. Starlink’s Personal Maritime plan isn’t on its list of referral-eligible plans[1] (our reading); the eligible plans are Residential 100 Mbps, Residential 200 Mbps, Residential Max, Roam 100GB, Roam 300GB and Roam Unlimited (plus the older Residential and Residential Lite)[1]. Who qualifies.
Does it work in Puerto Rico, Guam or another US territory?
Unconfirmed: whether a US referral link counts for Puerto Rico, Guam, the US Virgin Islands, American Samoa or the Northern Mariana Islands unverified[2]. The terms require that your service address and the referrer’s are in the same country (for this site, the US)[2], and they don’t mention the territories. Who qualifies.
Can I get it with a rented kit?
It’s unconfirmed whether renting the kit still earns the reward: the terms require that the new customer “must purchase a Starlink Kit and subscription directly from www.starlink.com”, and Starlink has never said if a rental qualifies unverified[2]. Rentals and the rules.
Can I order Starlink as a gift?
The $100 goes to the new customer on the account, and the account must be in the user’s own name; someone else may order or deal with Starlink for them only in the cases Starlink lists, such as a household or family member or a personal caregiver[8]. So the person who’ll use Starlink orders through the link in their own name. Where to order.
Ordering
How do I get it?
Open a referral link, buy the kit and plan on starlink.com in that same browser tab, and check that the order page shows “Referral Code Applied” before you pay. Then stay subscribed: your service stays active and in good standing, without a break, through two complete monthly billing cycles[2]. Step by step.
Is there a promo code?
There’s no public coupon code and no code for the $100: the referral rides in the link. Starlink’s order page accepts promotion codes only through special links (?promoCode=), and its error messages tie some to the email address the offer went to; nowhere can you type one (our reading of the starlink.com page code)[9]. Only have a code? Codes that aren’t Starlink’s.
Is it safe to use a stranger’s link?
Yes, if it opens starlink.com: you then order from Starlink and pay Starlink, as you would without a link. Before you pay, check that the order page adds a green panel reading “Referral Code Applied” beside the Checkout button (beneath it on desktop, directly above it on phones) once the referral is attached[9] (our reading). The person whose link you use can see your referral’s status, an expected date and, if Starlink marks it ineligible, the reason (our reading of Starlink’s Referrals page); on this site’s button, that person is the site owner. What the site owner sees.
Can I order by phone?
Not for the $100: the terms ask that the kit and subscription are bought directly on starlink.com, not from a store, an unauthorized reseller or a private seller[2]. A phone or AI-agent order isn’t that channel (our reading). Where it counts.
I bought my kit at Best Buy. Can I still get it?
No. Only sign-ups made at starlink.com earn a reward; a kit from a retailer, a reseller or an account transfer is excluded[1]. Where it counts.
How do I know the referral worked?
Before you pay, the order page adds a green panel reading “Referral Code Applied” beside the Checkout button (beneath it on desktop, directly above it on phones) once the referral is attached[9] (our reading). See it in a screenshot.
I forgot to use the link. Can it be added?
Starlink says no: an order placed without the link can’t have a referral attached afterwards[1]. What you can still check.
Can I pay for the Mini in installments?
Yes, at $12.41/mo[10] for 12 months: the Mini installment plan carries a fixed 0% APR, so no interest[11]. Mini installments need 12 months of unbroken service; on Residential, cancelling, transferring, switching plans or pausing with Standby makes the balance due at once[11]. The $100 doesn’t pay the installments: credits can be spent only on monthly service charges[12] (our reading for installment lines). What the credit covers.
Waiting for it
When does it show up?
Starlink’s terms say it’s credited to your second monthly subscription invoice[2]; its help center says it comes once you’ve had service for two months[1], 60 days after activation at the earliest, subject to your account settings and an identity check[1]. Which reading Starlink follows can’t show before Dec 6, 2026, when the first orders under the current terms reach day 60. Find your dates.
Why was my first bill full price?
The first month is paid in full and the kit activated as usual; the checkout total has no referral deduction[1]. And Starlink lists a new kit as a reason a bill can differ: the first bill is often prorated[13]. When it lands.
Do I need to do anything while I wait?
Pay each bill and keep the plan running: Starlink counts the two cycles by monthly service invoices actually paid[2], and both cycles have to be on a high-speed plan, and months in Standby Mode don’t count[2]. What keeps the reward.
The credit on your bill
What does it pay for?
Credits can be spent only on monthly service charges[12]: credits don't pay immediate charges or pro-rated costs, such as a reactivation, a plan change or a shop order[12]. Charge by charge.
My plan costs less than $100. What happens to the rest?
A credit comes off what you owe on a statement, but never more than that statement's total[12], and the part of the $100 that’s bigger than one bill appears to stay on your account as an “available balance” and come off the next bills (our reading: Starlink shows an available balance for each credit and never deducts more than a statement’s total, but doesn’t spell out the carry-over for referral credit)[14]. How far it goes depends on your price: on Roam 100GB at $55/mo[10] it covers one full bill and $45 of the next[10]; at the lowest Residential 100 Mbps level seen, $44/mo (Starlink’s US list, Oct 29, 2026)[15], it covers two full bills and $12 of a third[15]. Every price level.
Does the $100 change with my price level?
No: the $100 doesn’t depend on your price. What changes is how many bills it covers. Residential 100 Mbps, for example, is $44 to $55/mo (levels seen in Starlink’s own price data since Oct 29, 2026), depending on your address[15]. How far it goes at each price.
Does it pay a kit rental fee?
Starlink doesn’t say: whether the $100 credit can pay a monthly kit rental fee, where one is charged, as well as the service charge unverified[12]. And it’s unconfirmed whether renting the kit still earns the reward: the terms require that the new customer “must purchase a Starlink Kit and subscription directly from www.starlink.com”, and Starlink has never said if a rental qualifies unverified[2]. What the credit covers.
Can I get cash instead?
You can choose cash to a linked bank account where your account offers it, switched on under Referrals in your Starlink account[1]. If you don't finish the Stripe setup, the reward comes as service credit[1]. Credit or cash.
Is it taxable?
Rewards are issued before tax, and Starlink isn't responsible for any tax on them[2]. Ask a tax professional about your own case. The rules in full.
Can I buy Starlink credits?
Not that we could find: as of Nov 3, 2026, Starlink’s US help center and legal documents describe no way to buy service credit[16] (our reading). A seller of Starlink credit or of a “$100 gift card” isn’t Starlink. Every real way to pay less.
Will Starlink charge a late fee?
As of Nov 3, 2026, Starlink’s US help center and legal documents name no late fee for monthly service, and its Mini installment agreement says “Late Charge: None”[16] (our reading). A late payment can still hold up the $100: Starlink counts the two cycles by monthly service invoices actually paid[2]. Credit missing?
Does Starlink do a credit check?
As of Nov 3, 2026, Starlink’s US help center and legal documents mention no credit check before ordering, though its Terms of Service let it report money owed for a broken service commitment to a credit reporting agency[16] (our reading). How Starlink billing works.
If something’s wrong
It’s been two months and there’s no credit.
It may not be due yet: Until about Dec 6, 2026, nobody under the current terms can have reached day 60, so the second invoice and any later bill are both possible, and a credit is applied to the next bill your account generates, or to the one after if a bill is already pending when it lands[14]. Find the cause.
The order page said “Referral Code Not Applied”.
When the referral can’t be used, an amber “Referral Code Not Applied” panel appears instead, for instance because the code is invalid or doesn’t fit that order type; the order can still be placed, just without the reward[9] (our reading). If you haven’t paid yet, reopen the link and check the panel again before you do. What the panel means.
I paused with Standby. Did I lose it?
It can cost it. The reward needs two full billing cycles, and the terms say both cycles have to be on a high-speed plan, and months in Standby Mode don’t count[2]. Credit missing?
What should I tell Starlink support?
Your order date, your first bill date, whether you saw “Referral Code Applied”, and that you ordered on starlink.com through a referral link. On starlink.com, a support ticket starts from Sign in → My Account → Messages → New Ticket[17], and Starlink never charges for support[18]. Contacting Starlink.
Codes, deals and saving
Can I combine it with other Starlink offers?
Unconfirmed: whether the $100 referral credit combines with an area discount, area promotional pricing, the Mini Activation Benefit or the Residential Max Mini offer unverified[2]. Check the order summary before you pay. Every real way to pay less.
Are there other ways to pay less for Starlink?
Three US areas have their own discounts:
- Cameron County, Texas area: 50% off Residential service, applied automatically by service address; no upfront hardware cost for new customers[19]
- Vermilion Parish, Louisiana area: half-price Residential service, applied automatically[20]
- Eligible parts of the Memphis area: half-price service, applied automatically[21]
Are the coupon sites legit?
Not for the $100: the order flow has no field for typing a referral code, as far as we found[9] (our reading), so a site that sells a code, or asks for a gift card or your login, is wrong about how it works. Why there’s no code.
What Starlink doesn’t say
Does unused credit expire?
Open question: whether unused referral credit expires (Starlink doesn't say) unverified[12]. Credits are non-refundable and non-transferable, and aren’t paid back if you cancel service[14]. What the credit covers.
How much is the kit rental fee?
No published amount: Starlink’s order page says a monthly rental fee, if any, appears on the checkout screen and is charged on activation day or 30 days after delivery, if that’s sooner[9]. At the one address we checked on Oct 30, 2026, the order page showed $0/mo[23]. Every real way to pay less.
How much is the Standby fee?
Starlink gives no US amount: Standby Mode pauses high-speed service for a small monthly fee; it isn't offered on promotional offers[24]. One press report puts it at $10/mo press report[25]. For the reward, you need two full billing cycles, and both cycles have to be on a high-speed plan, and months in Standby Mode don’t count[2].
Does an order finished in the Starlink app keep the referral?
Open question: whether a referral opened in a browser survives when the order is completed in the Starlink app unverified[1]. To be safe, finish the order on starlink.com in a web browser. Where it counts.
Is there a Starlink gift card?
Not that we could find: as of Nov 3, 2026, Starlink’s help center, legal documents and US order pages mention no Starlink gift card[16] (our reading). Anyone who asks you to pay in gift cards isn’t Starlink. Every real way to pay less.
Is there a military, student or teacher discount?
Not that we could find: as of Nov 3, 2026, Starlink’s help center, legal documents and US order lists show no military, veteran, first-responder, teacher, student or Tesla-owner discount[16] (our reading). Every real way to pay less.
