Eligibility
Who qualifies for the Starlink $100 credit?
You qualify if you’ve never had Starlink and you buy the kit and plan on starlink.com through a referral link, as a person with a US service address, then stay on a high-speed plan for two full billing cycles.
Will you get the $100 credit?
0 of 7 answeredThe rules behind the questions
The seven questions check the six conditions below, in Starlink’s own words, and two more: a plan that counts (the list) and meaning to stay, not only for two full billing cycles. And the decision on whether an order qualifies is Starlink’s alone, and it’s final[2].
The six conditions behind the $100, in Starlink’s words
- A person, not a company
Referred Subscribers must be natural persons.
- A US service address
The Referred Subscriber activates a Starlink subscription with a service address in the same country as the Referrer’s service address.
With a US customer’s link, that’s the US. - Never had Starlink
The Referred Subscriber is not, and has never been, a Starlink subscriber.
- Bought on starlink.com
The Referred Subscriber must purchase a Starlink Kit and subscription directly from www.starlink.com.
- Through the referral link
The Referred Subscriber places an order for a Starlink Kit using the Unique Referral Link provided by the Referrer.
- Two paid high-speed cycles Stay subscribed for
two full monthly billing cycles
, counted bythe number of monthly service invoices paid
, ona high-speed service plan (excludes Standby Mode)
.
Each rule, with the terms and the help center side by side: the rules.
Does a rented kit qualify? Not confirmed
It’s unconfirmed whether renting the kit still earns the reward: the terms require that the new customer “must purchase a Starlink Kit and subscription directly from www.starlink.com”, and Starlink has never said if a rental qualifies unverified[2] (Referral Program Terms §3.1(d)). That matters for home service: rental kits are for Residential plans only[4], and Starlink’s US Residential order list prices the kit as a rental, at $0, $99 or $199 one-time, depending on your address and plan ($99 is a professional-installation add-on; $199 is a rental kit with professional installation)[7].
The order page can still show “Referral Code Applied” on a rental order. That panel shows the link is attached to the order, nothing more: the decision on whether an order qualifies is Starlink’s alone, and it’s final[2]. If your order page offers the kit only as a rental, wait until Starlink says whether rentals count before you count on the $100.
Do phone or AI-agent orders count?
Starlink’s terms name one channel, starlink.com: Signing up through any other channel is not eligible for a Reward
. A call with Starlink, or with its AI phone agent, isn’t starlink.com, and the referral rides in the link you opened in your browser.
Reported In an r/Starlink post of Sep 9, 2026 (written under the earlier free-month terms and since deleted by its author; we read the archived copy on Nov 2, 2026), a buyer who started through a friend’s link let Starlink’s AI phone agent finish the order after it said the referral would still apply. The second month was billed in full, and Starlink support replied that the referral applies only when the link is used to sign up on starlink.com. Finishing in the Starlink app is an open question too: whether a referral opened in a browser survives when the order is completed in the Starlink app unverified[1].
Does a link from another country work?
A US service address needs a US customer’s link. Starlink’s terms ask that your service address and the referrer’s are in the same country (for this site, the US)[2]; Starlink’s referral help article adds that amounts may vary for referrals outside your country (the US terms still require a service address in the same country)[1]. Territories, moves and the other cross-border cases: the same-country rule, explained.
Personal Maritime isn’t on the list
Starlink’s Personal Maritime plan isn’t on its list of referral-eligible plans[1]. The plans that count are Residential 100 Mbps, Residential 200 Mbps, Residential Max, Roam 100GB, Roam 300GB and Roam Unlimited (plus the older Residential and Residential Lite)[1], and Starlink’s help center adds that Priority, Business and Enterprise accounts don't earn referral rewards[1].
Workarounds that cost the $100
Some ideas passed around online try to make a household that already has Starlink look new. Starlink’s rules point the other way:
- A second account with a new email. The reward is for someone who
is not, and has never been, a Starlink subscriber
; a new email doesn’t make a past subscriber new (our reading). - An order in a spouse’s or relative’s name, for a home that already has Starlink. The terms don’t mention households, and Starlink alone decides who counts as a new customer. A second account opened to collect the reward is the kind of abuse the terms let it act on (our reading).
- Referring yourself. Starlink’s referral page has a reason for an ineligible sign-up that says exactly that: “Cannot refer your own account” (our reading of starlink.com’s code)[6].
- Cancelling and ordering again through a link. Once you’ve had service, you’ve been a subscriber. Starlink doesn’t say how it treats an order cancelled before it ships, and it alone decides.
And if Starlink finds one later: Starlink can cancel or take back a reward, even after it's issued, for fraud, abuse or a terms violation[2].
Does a Mini or a Roam plan qualify?
Roam plans count, and a Roam kit is one you buy (rental kits are for Residential plans only[4]), so the rental question doesn’t come up. The referral attaches to a Roam order the same way, and the same two billing cycles apply.

Standby doesn’t count toward the $100
The $100 comes only if your service stays active and in good standing, without a break, through two complete monthly billing cycles[2], and Starlink’s terms count only time continuously subscribing to a high-speed service plan (excludes Standby Mode)
. So switching a new kit to Standby can cost you the $100, and the person whose link you used loses theirs too (our reading of the terms).
The trap: Standby right after delivery. Some buyers, often of a Mini on a Roam plan, switch a new kit to Standby as soon as it ships or is set up, to pay less until a trip. Reported In one r/Starlink thread (Aug 28, 2026), a buyer about to order a Mini through a referral link asked about pausing it until needed, and a reply described switching to Standby as soon as the kit shipped. In another (Oct 10, 2026), a reply pointed out that with a referral, both sides lose the reward. Standby has its own monthly fee, too ($10/mo press report[9]).
Standby isn’t offered on every kit: Standby Mode is not available on V5 hardware[3], and Standby is unavailable for select rental customers[3].
Every rule, in Starlink’s exact words: the referral rules, explained.
Still unsure? Questions, answered
Do I qualify if I had Starlink at a different address?
is not, and has never been, a Starlink subscriber, and its help center says existing and returning customers are not eligible[1]. A different address, a new email or a new account doesn’t change that.

Can I order for someone else?
Two kits, or a home kit and a Mini, through one link: $100 or $200?
