Discounts and offers
Does the $100 referral credit stack with other Starlink savings? Every real US saving, checked Nov 3, 2026
One saving is open to every new US customer who orders on starlink.com through a referral link. The rest depend on your address, your plan or the kit. Here’s the full list, and the things that only look like discounts.
In brief
There’s no general Starlink discount and no code to type. What a US customer can actually get: the $100 referral reward, three half-price area discounts, promotional pricing at some addresses, the Mini at $149[6] on starlink.com or on 0% installments, and offers for people who already have Residential service. The referral reward is account credit on a later bill, not money off at checkout: Starlink’s terms say it’s credited to your second monthly subscription invoice[2]; its help center says once you’ve had service for two months[1], 60 days after activation at the earliest, subject to your account settings and an identity check[1]. No order under the current terms reaches day 60 before Dec 6, 2026, so neither reading has been seen in practice yet. Whether any two of these combine, Starlink doesn’t say.
The $100s people mix up most, oldest first. Chips show whose words each row rests on.
| Name you might see | What it is | When | Who gave it | How it showed up |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| “$100 service credit” promotions, 2024–2025 Not the referral | Starlink promotions that gave new customers a $100 service credit in 2024 and 2025: a new-customer offer, an area offer, a 2025 Mini offer on Roam and a vending-machine kit. None is the referral, and we found no report of any of them after December 2025. Starlink’s own text read Nov 3, 2026 | 2024–2025 (reported) Ended | Starlink | As service credit on a later bill (reported). |
| “Save $100” on a kit at a store Not the referral | A store’s own offer: money off a Starlink kit at Best Buy, tied to activating service in the store (reported). A store kit can’t earn the referral reward. Starlink’s own text read Nov 3, 2026 | Oct 2026 Current | The store (Best Buy) | As a lower kit price at the store, on the store’s receipt. |
| Mini “$149 (typically $249)” Not the referral | Starlink’s own order page price for the Mini kit: a lower kit price at checkout, not the referral reward. Our reading: the gap is Starlink’s Activation Benefit for new Mini kits, for which Starlink states no amount. Starlink’s own text read Oct 30–Nov 3, 2026 | Seen Oct 30, 2026 Current | Starlink (starlink.com) | As the kit price on the order page. Nothing comes back later. |
| “$100 off” codes Not the referral | Not a Starlink product: we found no box anywhere in Starlink’s order flow to type a code, Starlink’s promotion codes come only inside special links, and the referral works only through a customer’s link. Starlink’s own text read Nov 3, 2026 | Checked Oct 30, 2026 Not real | Coupon sites, not Starlink | Nowhere on a Starlink order or bill. |
| $100 referral credit The referral reward | Starlink’s reward for a new US customer who orders on starlink.com through an existing customer’s link and stays subscribed for two full billing cycles. Service credit by default. Starlink’s own text read Nov 3, 2026 | Since Oct 7, 2026 Current | Starlink, through a customer’s referral link | As service credit on a later monthly bill: Starlink’s terms say the second monthly invoice; its help center says after two months. |
Starlink’s own offers, side by side
| Offer | Who gets it | How it shows up |
|---|---|---|
| Referral reward ($100) | New US customers who buy the kit and plan on starlink.com through a referral link, and stay two full billing cycles | As account credit on a later bill, never at checkout: account credit unless you choose otherwise, taken off your next Starlink invoice[1]. When it lands |
| Area discounts | Service addresses in three US areas | Half the standard monthly price, on every bill, applied automatically |
| Promotional pricing | Promotional service pricing is for new customers, one service line, no commitment[12] | In some areas a new customer is offered a lower service price for a set period, such as 6 or 12 months, visible only on that address’s order page at starlink.com[12]. Promotional pricing begins on activation day, or a week after delivery if that comes first[12], and changing your plan, cancelling or being suspended ends that promotional pricing[12] |
| The Mini kit | New Mini kits bought on starlink.com | A lower kit price at checkout (Activation Benefit), or 12 monthly payments at 0% APR |
| Free professional installation | Residential 200 Mbps and Max orders | Starlink’s home page lists “Free professional home installation” for Residential 200 Mbps and Residential Max[16] |
| Mini rental and half-price Roam | People who already have Residential Max | Residential Max subscribers can get a Starlink Mini rental with no monthly fee and 50% off eligible Roam plans[14]. Starlink says that Residential Max offer may not be combined with other offers[14] |
| Mini Kit for Travel | People who already have Residential 100 or 200 Mbps | Where offered with Residential 100 or 200, the Optional Mini Kit for Travel gives 20% off eligible Roam plans[15] |
Do they combine with the $100? Starlink doesn’t say whether the $100 referral credit combines with an area discount, area promotional pricing, the Mini Activation Benefit or the Residential Max Mini offer unverified[2]. Check the order summary before you pay.
Three US area discounts
Starlink’s help center lists three places in the US where Residential service is half price. You don’t apply for one: it comes with the service address.
- Cameron County, Texas area: 50% off Residential service, applied automatically by service address; no upfront hardware cost for new customers[9].
- Vermilion Parish, Louisiana area: half-price Residential service, applied automatically[10].
- Eligible parts of the Memphis area: half-price service, applied automatically[11].
Moving out of the eligible area ends the area discount on future bills[9], and if an area discount ends for existing customers, Starlink promises at least 6 months' notice[10]. “Regional Savings” is a different program: Starlink’s list of areas with one-time “Regional Savings” names only Mexico (separate from the US area discounts on the monthly price)[4].
Does the $100 come on top in these areas? Starlink doesn’t say. Starlink's Cameron County area-discount article invites customers to share referrals with neighbors who may get the same area discount[9], but none of the three articles says a new customer gets both. And the Memphis article is behind on the reward itself: it still says You could both earn a month of free service through our referral program
[11], although the US terms have given the $100 since Oct 7, 2026[3].
Military, veteran, student and other group discounts
| Group | What we found |
|---|---|
| Military | None found |
| Veterans | None found |
| First responders | None found |
| Teachers | None found |
| Students | None found |
| Tesla owners | None found |
Starlink’s help center, legal documents and US order lists show no military, veteran, first-responder, teacher, student or Tesla-owner discount[18]. We read all 479 Starlink help articles, 12 legal documents and both US order lists on Nov 3, 2026. A site offering one of these as a code isn’t Starlink.
“Free” and “$0”: what they really mean
- A rented kit with little or nothing upfront. On Starlink’s US Residential order list the kit is a rental: $0, $99 or $199 one-time, depending on your address and plan ($99 is a professional-installation add-on; $199 is a rental kit with professional installation)[17], plus the monthly plan. A monthly kit fee may apply too: Starlink’s order page says a monthly rental fee, if any, appears on the checkout screen and is charged on activation day or 30 days after delivery, if that’s sooner[8]; on Oct 30, 2026, at one public test address, the order page priced the rented kit at $0 a month[5]. And it’s unconfirmed whether renting the kit still earns the reward: the terms require that the new customer “must purchase a Starlink Kit and subscription directly from www.starlink.com”, and Starlink has never said if a rental qualifies unverified[2] (Referral Program Terms §3.1(d)), so don’t count the $100 on a rental yet.
- A kit for a 12-month commitment. Gone: the $0-kit 12-month Residential commitment is closed to new customers[19].
- The 30-day trial. Not a free month: Starlink says the 30-day trial is a hardware trial, not a free first month[20].
- Free installation. Starlink’s home page lists “Free professional home installation” for Residential 200 Mbps and Residential Max[16]; on Residential 100 Mbps, Starlink’s order list prices it as $99[17].
- A free Mini. Only for people who already have Residential Max, and it’s a rental, not a gift: Residential Max subscribers can get a Starlink Mini rental with no monthly fee and 50% off eligible Roam plans[14].

If you rent and change your mind
Starlink’s Terms of Service come first: a rented kit returned within 30 days is refunded your Activation Price only
[21], the Terms say, and a timely return also refunds the first month's service or rental fee and the demand surcharge[21]. Its rent article adds a separate rule: if you decide not to go ahead with a rental, the kit must go back in good condition within 7 days of delivery[22]. A kit that goes back earns no $100.
The Mini: a lower kit price, or installments
The Mini’s price is where Starlink’s own kit saving shows: on Oct 30, 2026, the order page showed the Mini as “$149 (typically $249)” with a 12-month installment option[5]. Its US list price is $149[6] now. Our reading: the gap is Starlink’s Activation Benefit, which it describes like this: a new Mini kit bought on starlink.com in the US comes with an Activation Benefit at checkout, which Starlink can charge back if the kit isn’t activated within 7 days of delivery[7]. It comes off the kit at checkout; the referral $100 is separate and comes later.
Or spread the kit: $12.41/mo[6] for 12 months, and the Mini installment plan carries a fixed 0% APR, so no interest[13]. The catch: Mini installments need 12 months of unbroken service; on Residential, cancelling, transferring, switching plans or pausing with Standby makes the balance due at once[13]. On Roam, Mini installments allow switching Roam plans or Standby[13].
Savings that aren’t from Starlink
- Store sales. A store’s money off a kit is the store’s price, and a store kit can’t earn the $100: only sign-ups made at starlink.com earn a reward; a kit from a retailer, a reseller or an account transfer is excluded[1]. Compare a store total.
- Bundle “service credits”. The “$100 service credit” with a Mini on Roam that deal sites still list was Starlink’s own offer (Jun–Jul 7, 2025, reported), and it has ended. Reported Notebookcheck, Jun 28, 2025
- Card-linked cash back. A card issuer’s offer, not Starlink’s: Chase gave some cardholders 30% back on Starlink purchases, up to $30 a time and three times, until Sep 11, 2026 (reported). Reported dannydealguru.com, Mar 12, 2026
- Gift cards. Starlink’s help center, legal documents and US order pages mention no Starlink gift card[18]. A message asking you to pay Starlink with gift cards isn’t Starlink.
- A “Starlink rebate”. Searches for one mostly turn up Napco’s StarLink fire-alarm communicators, another company’s product with a similar name (our search check, Oct 29, 2026).
- Coupon-site codes. The order flow has no field for typing a referral code, as far as we found[8], and Starlink’s order page accepts promotion codes only through special links (?promoCode=), and its error messages tie some to the email address the offer went to; nowhere can you type one (our reading of the starlink.com page code)[8]. A code on a coupon site isn’t one of them.
Levers you control
The biggest one is the plan. Starlink’s Residential prices depend on your address; its own price data shows these monthly levels:
- Residential 100 Mbps: $44 to $55/mo (levels seen in Starlink’s own price data since Oct 29, 2026), depending on your address[17]
- Residential 200 Mbps: $68 to $85/mo (levels seen in Starlink’s own price data since Oct 29, 2026), depending on your address[17]
- Residential Max: $104 to $156/mo (levels seen in Starlink’s own price data since Oct 29, 2026), depending on your address[17]
- Roam, for travel and the Mini: from $55/mo[6]
Starlink says the Residential 100 Mbps and 200 Mbps plans are only available in select areas[16]. Starlink’s instruction for seeing your price is to enter your address on starlink.com and click “Order Now”[23]. Check for a surcharge there too: busy areas can carry a one-time demand surcharge at purchase or activation, set by the address and plan[24], up to about $1,500[25] per residential service line.
