What does the order help say now?
Starlink’s Order Overview article now says: You can update or cancel your order only while the status shows Pending. Once the status changes to Preparing Shipment, the order can no longer be updated or cancelled. This change can happen within 1–3 hours after you place the order. An archived copy from Oct 8, 2025 described a fixed 3-hour window instead.

Who needs to act fast?
Anyone who just ordered, especially if the order page showed Referral Code Not Applied or no referral panel at all.
What should you check right after ordering?
Check your order status in your Starlink account straight away. Starlink says a referral can’t be added to an order later. It doesn’t say whether cancelling a Pending order changes who counts as a new customer, so ask Starlink support before you change anything.
What still holds for the referral?
A referral attaches only when you order through the link on starlink.com; it can’t be added afterwards. The 30-day return still applies once the kit has shipped.
